Woo! This is the last one! No need to worry about me spamming your friendslists now, people who have taken me off! You can add me back now.

One last moment, in great detail

Whoa. Almost done here.

Cubs game last night was a lot of fun. Even though they ended up losing 7-3 against the Astros. Tessa and I left after the Seventh Inning Stretch and it apparently didn't make a difference.

Your aspirations, in great detail

Whoops! Looks like I should have read ahead on the list. It turns out I've already done this one.

That was easy.
alliancesjr: (PWNED)
Finally caught up. We're almost done, people; Thursday will be the last day of this.

Something that you miss, in great detail

DIET IS JUST NOT THE SAME. I can't wait until my weight-loss is complete and I can have it again.
alliancesjr: (Hull Problems)
After work today, I'll be taking Tessa to her very first Cubs game, courtesy of my mother. It'll be a lot of fun, and I hope she has a good time.

This brings us to:

Your favorite place, in great detail

I have a lot, but honestly I keep thinking back to Wrigley Field, mostly because of the memories I have. I'm not a big fan of watching baseball on TV, but there's just something about going to see a game.

My mother is one of the biggest Cubs fans I know, and she took me to my first game when I was six or seven. I will always remember her pointing up a the press box during the Seventh Inning Stretch and showing me that Harry Carey was right there, singing his heart out.

I've only been to one Cubs game without my mother (the aforementioned favorite birthday with Rowan; I went to a game with John but my mother also happened to be at that game elsewhere in the stands, so that counts), and this upcoming one will be my second. I'm hoping Tessa enjoys it just as much as I always have; she doesn't watch baseball either, but she remembers going to games with her family and having a good time.

Three to go before I'm caught up.

Your fears, in great detail

Oh, Dayna's going to have a field day with this one. She's the one where nightmares actually cause her pain, not me.

Oh well. Let's see, what do I have?

Screw Kennedy. Fear is pretty damn scary. )

Augh. Got laid back by the wedding this weekend. Speaking of, I've got a picture for you guys.

A first, in great detail

That's an easy one. Last month was the very first time I've ever performed stand-up comedy live on stage at a major comedy club

This weekend is going to be busy. I'm attending a wedding with Trekkiegirl tomorrow, and Monday's going to be full of Labor Day family goodness.

Something that makes you cry, in great detail

Futurama, Season 4, Episode 7, entitled "Jurassic Bark". Anyone who watches that and doesn't cry is not human.
alliancesjr: (Jayne)
Wow, we're coming up on the home stretch, aren't we?

Tonight, I play StarCraft Classic with Tessa LIVE on 1P Start!, and it'll be a lot of fun. Depending on how fast the games go, we may even play best two out of three.

It will be even more exciting because I'll let Tessa's audience choose my race and maybe even the map we play on.

Which brings us to today's meme post!

Something that makes you feel better, in great detail

This is really going to be a short one.

Hanging out with friends. Doing something. Pretty much anything. Whether it is watching Buffy or CSI with Tessa, or hanging out with Trekkiegirl, or seeing John or Debbie or Sharon or any of my other local friends. Something social will always relax me and cheer me up.

If I was in a bad mood today, tonight's StarCraft broadcast would cheer me up.
alliancesjr: (Katara Dismayed)
First off, happy birthday Ian! Your present is the knowledge that Golden Sun: Dark Dawn will be released on November 29th.

On to the meme!

Something that upsets you, in great detail

Whoa man. Okay, honesty. I did commit to this thing after all.

The thing that upsets me the most... )

Another moment, in great detail
(Special Theater of War Out-Of-Timeline Snapshot Version)

My sources for canon occurances have been cut off for the moment, so this is roughly from memory. If I get something wrong, let me know, but don't let that ruin your enjoyment of this.

There we go. Caught up; going to get some more work done and then get ready for Trekkiegirl's Birthday Dinner Non-Specific Roughly-Celebratory Day Dinner with her family, which would have been last week except she had a lot of stuff to do so she pushed it back.

Anyway.

This month, in great detail

Huh. Good timing; this fell at the end of this month.

At the beginning of the month, I performed stand-up comedy at a full-scale high-class comedy club. It was awesome. Watch the video, it does a better job "great detail"ing than I do.

Also that week, Trekkiegirl French Taunted a Dragon.

Later, she picked me up a copy of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, and I've pretty much been playing that non-stop - especially since my Warcraft subscription ran out and I've been too broke to renew it.

We recorded an awesome episode of Made of Fail, mostly about Warcraft and StarCraft II.

Last week, my car refused to start. It's still in the shop. It's a thousand-dollar repair job, and it'll be finished tomorrow.

Aside from that, that's about it. Work's been work, I've continued my CSI-thon with Tessa (she's showing me, in return for my Buffythons for her).
alliancesjr: (we are a Genuises)
Augh, time to play catch-up again. At least I didn't get as far behind as I did a while back.

Something you regret, in great detail

NOT DOING THIS MEME EVERY DAY AS SCHEDULED

(See what I did there?)

I regret... )
alliancesjr: (Default)
My car requires a thousand dollar repair job. The on-board computer got fried. Parts are over 500, labor's over 400.

I need to talk about something happy.

Your favorite birthday, in great detail

This will do nicely.

A story of baseball. )
alliancesjr: (Default)
Alright, now that's taken care of, I can get caught up for today.

Your favorite memory, in great detail

Ahh, this one's a good one. The only thing I don't remember about this is the year; I think I was either 7 or 8 when this happened, but it stuck in my memory.

(ohgod this happened at least eighteen years ago why am I so old)

Ever been to Wisconsin Dells? )
alliancesjr: (Default)
I was doing so well, too.

I had hoped to keep up my recent streak of being on-time with these, but I had a bit of a car emergency yesterday. It's still in the shop, actually; the mechanics don't know what's wrong with it. This is not a good sign, both for the mechanics and for my wallet. I only wish I could have taken it to my regular guys, but it was too much of a hike for the tow truck and this was his favored garage.

John says I may need a new alternator and/or a starter. Neither of these is cheap.

On a completely unrelated note , on to the next question!

Your first kiss, in great detail

(How's this for a non-sequitor segue?)

Due to my status as a social pariah, this did not happen until halfway through high school. My best friend at the time was this short, spunky redhead, and one day she took me up to just outside the unattended wrestling room. I honestly don't remember how the conversation had begun, but that started a bit of a short-lived relationship which ended heatedly early the next school year. I didn't see her again for another six years, but we reinstated our friendship as if it had never ended. To this day, she remains a good friend who I unfortunately do not get to see as often as I'd like, but she's very busy and I don't pressure her.

(She's actually getting married sometime soon. I know she wants to keep it small, so if I don't get an invite, I'll just send a card.)
alliancesjr: (Default)
Look at this, I am actually writing this post on the day it is supposed to be written what is this feeling is it contentment? I THINK IT IS.

Your dreams, in great detail

I have a dream that one day, I will write a meme post on the day it is supposed to be written! CIRCUITOUS LOGIC.

Actually, I'm not certain if this is supposed to mean "What are your hopes and/or aspirations" or if they want me to actually list off the hallucinations my mind puts me through while I am voluntarily unconscious and regenerating from the prior day's deconstruction of my muscles.

(Sleeping and dreams are weird when you think about it, you guys)

I'm sure Dayna has way more to say about the latter, so I'll go ahead and discuss the former.

I dreamed a dream of time gone by... )
alliancesjr: (we are a Genuises)
This is today's official post. I am all caught up! I hope it's something exciting!

What you wore today, in great detail

...I guess not. Didn't I do this one already?

As I am at work, I am yet again wearing work clothes! (Men have fewer options than women do.) Today I am wearing my stone green short-sleeve button-down shirt, my khaki pants, my black work shoes and black socks. Excelsior!
alliancesjr: (Katara Dismayed)
Well now! Just need to double up today's posts and I'll be all caught up! That'll let me start tomorrow fresh. Let's get a move on!

This week, in great detail

Intriguing! Well, let's see. Tuesday through Friday, instead of my normal mailroom duties, I worked Reception at my office building. It was my first time doing Reception here; I've done it before at other sites, but this way is a bit more interesting. For one thing, it starts an hour earlier. Of course, I got to go home an hour earlier as well, so that worked out.

Friday night, Tim Joyce was performing in Chicago for the last time. Our entire comedy class went out to the Improv to see him open for Tammy Pascatelli, and the whole show was amazing. Trekkiegirl came along too, and she had a good time.

This weekend was completely relaxed. I played some Starcraft, watched some Netflix with Tessa and Trekkiegirl, and slept until noon (which is a rareity for me!) Tessa also notified me of a nights-and-weekends opening at Borders, so I put in an application. Hopefully that second job will be mine, and I will have some spending money for myself!
alliancesjr: (Wonderflonium)
Almost done. Just this one and the next one and I'm caught up for today. Sorry for spamming your friendslists; hopefully they're spaced out enough that they're not right after each other.

What’s in your bag, in great detail

Oooh, a quick one. Okay. I do have my backpack that I take to work and such; mostly because I don't have a desk or a locker, and in summertime I can't put my keys/wallet in my coat while I'm at work.

(I didn't just tell you that.)

So! Let's take a look in my backpack.

  • My wallet and keys, as I definitely did not say above and certainly did not say now.

  • Grave Peril, by Jim Butcher, which I just finished at lunch today.

  • Summer Knight, by Jim Butcher, which I just started at lunch today.

  • My personal dice - both my blue/black set and my new white/red set - in the badass and still-in-great-shape dice bag that Mrs. Z made for me. No proper DM is ever without his dice; you never know when you need a randomizer.

  • Two miniature notebooks. One I used for my comedy class this summer - has all my notes for my jokes and routines in it - and one I use for jotting down D&D ideas as I get them.

That's all it has at the moment.
