Finally caught up. We're almost done, people; Thursday will be the last day of this.
Something that you miss, in great detail
DIET IS JUST NOT THE SAME. I can't wait until my weight-loss is complete and I can have it again.

Date: 2010-09-08 12:12 pm (UTC)I was addicted to Mountain Dew 10-15 years ago. I got addicted during late-night
gamingstudy sessions.I mean genuinely, headache-without-it, multiple-2-liter-containers-a-day addicted.
Eventually, with the help of caffeine pills and a lot of willpower, I kicked the habit. You're right, Diet Mountain Dew is not the same. It doesn't fill the same need, flavor or otherwise. You can't replace it. You have to break the desire for it altogether and only then can you fill that craving with something else.
For me, I ended up finding something that wasn't bad for me: Mandarin Orange sparkling water from Wal*Mart. It's just fizzy water with a twist of sweet orange flavor. Almost like a toned-down orange soda.
And in the long run, I think much better off for not drinking soda at all.
I can only imagine if I had tried to go back to it - I'd probably never be rid of the addiction. Now, ten years later, most soda (diet or otherwise) tastes cloying and overly sweet. I just can't drink it at all. And I honestly believe that is for the best.
Anyway, I'm not trying to preach. I'm just worried that you'll hit your goal for weight-loss and then allow yourself to slip back into the habits that made you want to lose weight to begin with, and that's a dangerous game. I've played it and lost. I would genuinely hate to see you go down the same road.
In the end, the choice is ultimately yours. I just don't want to see you follow in my foolish shoes.
