The Valkyrie-class Gunship is one of three current vessel designs to be given the "Shuttlecraft" designation, though it deserves this designation by design alone. The Valkyrie is the smallest of the three crafts, and while its standard crew size is 3, it can be operated effectively by a single pilot. Gunships measure 25 meters from bow to stern, and roughly two thirds that in width.
Two chin-mounted fixed-position cannons and a dorsal-mounted rotating cannon are standard equipment for a Valkyrie, though the top cannon is a more modular system and can be swapped out for various other systems if needed. The default cannon emplacement is able to rotate 360 degrees on its axis to cover the rear arc; the rotation collar is usually modified to be able to depress upwards or downwards to provide a greater field of fire. CFS is working on making that feature permanent in the next line of ships.
Valkyrie-class ships have a rather sizeable cargo space, which can quickly be converted for either cargo or personnel transport.
Valkyrie Gunships are found in all major military space stations and capital ship hangar bays - Avalon-class Heavy Cruisers generally have five apiece, giving the other three Gunboat slots to the heavier Assault Shuttles. Some pirate organizations and criminal syndicates have stolen a number of older-model Gunships, including a few of the newer Valkyries, while other large organizations and corporations have acquired these vessels through more legitimate channels.
