According to the strategy guide I'm looking at, those who ordered the World of Warcraft Collector's Edition pack recieved an in-game pet Zergling.

I don't know about you, but I think that's quite possibly the most awesome thing ever. I want one, but I bet they were soulbound and not able to be sold off.

If they were like the pet murloc that was given out at this year's Blizzcon, they're probably a code number. I looked on eBay about a month ago and the murloc code cards were going for $200 and up. Murky's cute, but not THAT freakin' cute!

I heard there's a way to get a pet Cthulu, but that you have to beat the hardest boss in the game to get it. Of course, it also could be an urban WoW legend that sprung up with the newest "Do all this bullshit stuff and get a 'cool pet'" quest.

Zergling would be better than a mini Cthulhu, anyway, plus they'd probably have to get the rights from the Lovecraft estate.

I've got an owl. He's nothing extra-special but I LOVE HIM. At the moment, I don't think I'd trade even if the other pet was OMGUBERCOOLOKAY.

When I was checking out Rene's account, my Night Elf bought an owl for fifty silver. It was kinda cute, following me around.

People who bought the collector's edition get a choice, at character creation, of:
1.) A pet panda
2.) A pet Zergling
3.) A pet mini-Diablo

That's why you will, occassionally, see a L5 character running around Durotar with a panda in tow.

Sealed copies of the Collector's Edition go for $600+ on eBay right now.
I really wish I'd gotten into this game earlier. I'd love a pet Zergling.
