As for the whole "HOW DARE YOU ASK ME OUT", it was a defense mechanism for me. Because if you don't want to go to those bloody functions, you are put in the awkward position of trying to be nice about people's feelings who do want to go to those functions, especially with you. Because when you are new, you don't exactly want to alienate people, especially in a small arsed town. But you still don't want to go to those goddamn dances. So it is just easier if no one asks you out, then you get to be mopey about how no one asked you out! But if someone called you on your bluff about not wanting to be asked out and asks you out, you then have to do that weird dance around the situation thing.
Yes, I know what I just said made NO SENSE, but it is nearly 2!
