Where did the time go?
Aug. 10th, 2007 07:13 am...if Terry Pratchett was to be believed, it was shunted into the past and future to fill gaps, actually, but that's another story entirely.
Last weekend, we held my parents' 25th anniversary party. We were expecting about thirty people to show up - based on the number of people who said they would - but only about twenty actually did. Which was interesting, because I had made certain to buy enough food for thirty people.
Yes, we're still eating the leftovers.
It was fun, though. I made some music and got complimented on my tastes, I saw some people I hadn't seen in years (and some people that we see all the time, like the Mandy and Tabby and Terry, but we love it when they come over so anyway). Mom and Dad had a great time, and I got thanks AND hugs from both of them.
Mission accomplished.
Sunday was spent in Milwaukee to see the Brewers play. It was a really fun game, but the best part was in the post-sixth inning Sausage Race. Baseball fans will already know that in Milwaukee Brewers home games, five (previously four) people dress up in sausage outfits and have a race. Sundays are special; on Sunday games, it becomes a relay race, because halfway through they tag miniature versions of the sausages - kids in the suits - and the race continues. Well, at last Sunday it must have been really little kids who have never done a relay race before, because the when Hot Dog (#4, for those of you keeping track) came to the tagline and tagged his partner, he kept going and the kid didn't start running.
Yup. The kid in the hot dog suit went flying. Feet left the ground and everything. I'm a horrible person but it was hilarious. (I've been trying for the past twenty minutes to find a video online somewhere, but it is elusive.)
Tuesday was their actual anniversary. Quiet affair, they went and had dinner after my mom had a business meeting. So it goes.
This weekend, I am out of town to visit my friend Patrick. You guys may have heard me speak of him once or twice. There will probably be hiking and bad movies, and awesome D&D on Sunday, and I'm bringing my DVDs of The Hogfather and Hot Fuzz to watch. It will be awesome.
I know I promised to update more often, but I promise this again. (And will probably fail to do so again, but YOU NEVER KNOW.)
