alliancesjr: (Merry Man)
Went up two levels in Warcraft this weekend. 63 to 65. That reminds me, I should check for new training, since it's every level from 60-70, instead of every two levels. Got me some new bullets (32 DPS. Damn nice.) and a new axeand I'm pulling about 235-ish DPS self-buffed with my pet active.

I stabled my wolf for now, and am levelling one of those new Ravagers. I caught a purple and pink one with extra spines, named it Kerrigan. Only one person has commented on the name so far. I'm slightly disappointed, but I can live with it.

End-game gear for Hunters is apparently not that great, so Quad recommended gathering Rogue gear. It'll be interesting going in instances and asking to roll on leather. I'll just have to run things a lot and make sure that the rogues/feral druids aren't going to use something. If I can find a chainmail piece, that'd be great. Blizzard has added items with "of the Hunt" suffix which is absolutely glorious, but I've only found one item with that, which is the belt I'm wearing now.

Trying to get back into a writing groove. It's hard. Most of my creativity right now is going towards the Thursday night D&D, making sure that I have interesting encounters, non-cookie-cutter NPCs, and challenging dungeons. They seemed to enjoy the triple-ward door that they had to get past, and I tossed in a math puzzle in a spur-of-the-moment decision. I have also been making liberal use of templates to base creatures. So far I've had two Feral kobolds in a pack of the regular kind (plus a kobold Sorcerer) and a Mummified Grimlock, king!.

I also found that I was trying to lay it on thick way too early. I'm letting the story develop on its own now, instead of the railroad face-shoving "HAY THIS IS PLOT OKAY" that I was doing in my first couple sessions. Of course, they were my first couple sessions, so taking some time to figure out both my speed and the players' expectations was to be expected. I think I'm doing well, especially considering how this game is much harder to manage, as it's AIM based and not on a tabletop. Being in a chatroom lets us use digital dice, but it prevents us from knowing who's typing, so I often have to shout "HEY DESCRIBING THINGS NOW" in the OOC room to get them to stop. I also had to enact a "No talking while dice are being rolled" rule, because I was losing people's dice rolls in the flow of off-topic conversation. I think it's working out fairly well so far, though.

Hopefully we can try to get together sometime and play face-to-face. It'd be fun. When I have my own place, I'll try to coordinate a couple of those sessions.
