I've been gone again.

...whoa, they updated the posting interface again. I'll have to get used to it now.

Three days ago, I got a box in the mail. Needful Things and the Warcraft Archive, from Gen and Rene. Have I mentioned how much I love them? 'cause I do. I finished reading Needful Things yesterday, and I started on the Archive today.

Two days ago I picked up The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and I started playing it last night. I made my way to the Forest Temple, the first dungeon proper. First reactions? OMG SO COOL. Second reactions? LINK AS A WOLF OMG SO COOL. Third reactions? ZOMG PRETTY PRINCESSES.

I've been a Zelda fanboy since playing it on my uncle's NES sixteen years ago, and I've played all but the most recent titles (Four Swords, Minish Cap). I don't know how it handles on the Wii (I do know that everything is horizontally inverted, to account for the fact that Link is left-handed but the main controls on the Wii are right-handed), but on the Cube it is marvelous. It takes the stylistic realism and sense of epic adventure that Ocarina of Time had and combines it with the Cube control scheme and mechanics that Wind Waker used to great effect. I'm not terribly enamored with the new item equip function, but it's more that I'm still not used to it yet than it is hard to deal with.

My only gripe thus far is the animation. It's smooth, it's detailed, and it's absolutely gorgeous, but the non-combat physics are at about the same level Ocarina of Time was. One of the first expository cutscenes shows Princess Zelda holding a sword - which is really cool - and shows her dropping it in slow-motion. The falling of the sword and the way it bounced off the floor was jarring, though, in an otherwise fluid game.

Got Krajin to 57 last night. He's still loaded up with LBRS quests, including Warlord's Command, a step in the Onyxia chain. I got him Molten Core attuned this weekend and cleared out all but one BRD quest - the Royal Rescue, where you have to save the Princess of Ironforge from the Dark Iron emperor. I'm probably going to quest in the Eastern Plaguelands for the last three levels, taking on LBRS and BRD runs as much as possible to level and get money.

I signed up for the ZG raid for last Monday night as an alternate, and I thought that I would get to go after the server reset and people went offline for the night, but there were still enough people online to have a full group and I didn't get to go. I'm going sign up for MC every Saturday after I hit 58 and hope that I get to go at least once.

Spam observations, Part II

AIM apparently wants me to snowball a friend.

I'm close to my friends, but not that close.
