New job means no internet at work until I get settled in and they get me connected to their network. Maybe next week.

HOLY FUCK.

Not only are they Edo Tensei zombies, but they were given back their bijuu? I think this week's reduced me to simple gibbering terror.

So, to recap. They have Rinnegan shared vision. They have Sharingan predictive ability. They have the bijuu that Gedo Mazo digested and changed. They have black chakra rods for silent communication. And one is permanently on fire.

Now Killer Bee is in full Hachibi mode and thrashing around in the forest. This is productive. Granted, when Naruto fought the Paths of Pain he did so in the Konoha Crater, but he did need to break line of sight to use his trickery on the Naraka Path.

...aw, hell. We haven't seen any of them use the Outer Path abilities yet. What if they can all use all six?

Don't forget they've got a lifetime - six lifetimes - of active combat duty, at least one of which as a Kage-level power, at least two of which with bloodline limits.

And the forest means that not only is it hard to get line of sight on all six of them, but they can watch from three dimensions instead of flat open surface. If Jiraiya had been on a flat, open surface, he likely would have lasted longer.

Not only this? Tobi is still right there. And he could easily just suck everything into hammerspace if he gets tired.

I've been wary of the whole "increasing power level instead of increasing tactics and strategy" aspect of the latter half of the series, but this more than makes up for it. High power AND impossible odds means Naruto and Killer Bee have to outthink this - which is what Naruto is best at, despite what most people say. Because he might be slow in terms of common sense, and he's severely underdeveloped socially (through no fault of his own), but he's a tactical genius probably on par with Shikamaru, I honestly believe that. There's a fanfic I once read that laid it out pretty clearly - Shikamaru is lazy and always fights an uphill battle, but he's best at planning things out from the start. Naruto is overzealous and quickly gets in over his head due to his rash behavior, but he excels at directing the battle to go the way that gives him the most advantage.

Shikamaru plans. Naruto reacts and guides. Rear lines strategy versus front-line tactics.

When Naruto gets the silly hat, if Konoha ever goes to war and Naruto leads the charge while Shikamaru hangs back with the maps and the communications squads, Konoha will be undefeatable. I believe this.

I can totally get behind that Naruto and Shikamaru as twin geniuses. Naruto for tactics, Shikamaru for strategy?

Forgot about hammerspace. Dollar says Tobi pulls the boys in and Naruto breaks out.
